Designing a farmhouse kitchen sounds intimidating, but it's important to have a plan and take it step by step. What I've learned is the visual aspect is the most important, so making a mood board helps tremendously. Print out the things you want to buy or are inspired by and make a collage, not just on Pinterest, but in real life.
Here are some steps to help on deciding where to start...

1. Color Scheme
Are you happy with your current wall color? Neutrals are a great place to start if you're not. A cool grey-blue or a light taupe will add some color but keeps it simple enough to build on. With the brand Prestige on Amazon, you can take a photo of your room and upload it to their app. You can then pick the paint color you need! It's also an all in one, washable paint. Once you've established a wall color, you can move onto other items such as wall decor, towels, canisters and so forth. You can add pops of color through those.
2. Wall Art
Do you want a more modern look or rustic? Once you've decided, it's easy to pick wall art and decorations. A few planters for herbs, a cute farmhouse sign and some organization racks. Simpler is usually better in kitchen design.
3. Counter Organization
We all need a lot of counter space, so picking the right things to organize and keep everything neat and tidy is a number one priority! A set of canisters, a utensil holder and a tiered rack for coffee/tea will organize, yet keep room for your small appliances.
4. Lighting
Again, once you've decided if you want a more rustic or modern farmhouse look, you can decide what lighting would be best for you. If you have a larger kitchen, you can go with a few chandeliers. With a smaller kitchen, smaller pendants or a long chandelier would suffice but still make a statement.
5. Furniture
If you have an eat-in area or a bar, rustic chairs are always a nice touch to any kitchen. They even go well with more modern furniture. It's so easy to find affordable chairs and bar stools these days! Take a look at a few of the options.
6. Finishing Touches (Greenery)
This is where you add the pops of color with subtle greens and purples. Add some mini-wreaths to your cabinets or pantry doors. Put a vase with some lavender, cotton or flowers.
